A tobôž nie rodičia, ktorí sa o svojich dorastajúcich potomkov „len“ boja a pocit strachu si tínedžeri pravdepodobne uvedomujú najmenej. Odvaha im nechýba, len či majú dostatok rozumu na to, aby odhadli nielen vlastné možnosti, ale aj riziko a zodpovednosť za seba a svoje konanie. Rizikové správanie tínedžerov so sebou prináša viac či menej závažné následky, ktoré si často neuvedomujú, alebo si ich nechcú pripustiť a vedome ich podceňujú.
