To je neraz až priveľmi sebecké, pretože pritom nemyslia na rodičov, ktorí im adrenalínové počínanie nie vždy schvaľujú a veľakrát o ňom ani netušia. Tínedžeri však riešia špecifické problémy a majú oproti svojim rodičom špecifické nazeranie na svet a jeho vnímanie. A od svojich rodičov (keď boli v ich veku) sa veru poriadne líšia. Nuž čo, iná doba, iné nároky, iné záľuby a zábava a čím väčší adrenalín, tým lepšie.

Aby sa boli schopní rozhodnúť pre bezpečné správanie, alebo dokonca dokázali odmietnuť ponuku rovesníkov zúčastniť sa rizikových aktivít, mali by byť dostatočne informovaní o možných následkoch. Tie môžu byť predovšetkým zdravotné, psychické (depresia, závislosti), ekonomické (vandalizmus, sprejerstvo, krádeže) až trestno-právne (kriminalita mládeže). Dobré mienené rady a varovania pritom púšťajú jedným uchom dnu a druhým von. Dokonca ich nedokážu dostatočne odradiť ani tragické prípady z médií. Známe porekadlo však hovorí, že dovtedy sa „chodí do džbánom po vodu, až sa ucho utrhne“, len aby potom nebolo veľmi neskoro.
